Sudhir Chaudhary is a master of ‘the art of misleading people’

 Amidst the Ayodhya ram mandir environment of January 2024, politicians and godi anchors do not leave their shot. On 29 January, Munawar Faruqui(Indian comedian) becomes winner of Big Boss 17, takes home 50 lakh rupees and receives lot of fan support during his procession through crowd at Dongri road, Mumbai. 

Amidst these events: ram mandir inauguration, politics and religion, communalism, unemployment, illiteracy, poverty, least signs of democratic steps; godi news anchors made breaking news headlines on Faruqui’s winning. In this blog, I will write several arguments against what Sudhir Choudhary said in his show (Black and white, on Aaj Tak), not because I support Munawar Faruqui and dislike Sudhir but, because Sudhir’s standpoint is absurd and misleading through his communalistic allegations.

In his episode, he says that Munawar’s winning is a bad sign for people because, unlike great sports personalities and military soldiers, he is a comedian who won maximum votes in Big Boss, even after coming across several controversies over his satire in which he made few seconds of joke on Hindu God and Goddess. (He never came across controversies over jokes on his own religion). He even says about Munawar , “....whose career started with making jokes on Hindu religion and disrespecting god Ram. He came into news headlines by doing this again and again.” He is simply exaggerating and directing spotlight on something that is not even completely understood. 

A person has right to say anything except certain hate speeches. Munawar was arrested just because of including God figures in his satirical stand-up show. (Sudhir does not has to say anything on when Munawar includes his religion in his show and Sudhir also completely goes with Hindu religion, communally). What Munawar said in his show, in the same way how M.F. Hussain had no intention of disrespecting religious beliefs through his paintings, did not gave any sign or intention of disrespecting ones religion.. People who criticise someone on the basis of their art are no one but people who think religion is wide stage-show rather than personal matter and choice, where they can judge and eliminate any person if he/she makes a voice of their religion that they dislike.

Sudhir shows disappointment in people’s choice of the show that they watch and the votes that they give to the contestants in the show. Straight argument— Who the fuck is he to decide what people watch and do? 

Everyone has right to watch and react but rather than attacking recent media censorship bill, he  wants to attack your right to express.

I’m quoting what he says further— “.....to see his[Munawar’s] glimpse, youth of our country, students of our country, those who are called future of our country can be seen crossing all the boundaries, all the madness here” [5:55-6:09 of this video] 

Why would he say so?

He would say so because he does not want the youth of our nation to be able to hold their own beliefs and decide what to consume and speak. He just wants them to develop hatred and anger towards other religion and reform their nation with circumstances of communal riots.

Onwards, he keeps saying things that have no further arguments but statements that are meant to boil blood of his viewers.

He also denies that religious matters are being used by politicians and political parties, exclusively, which is just ridiculous! Politics and religions are not coming into each other, they are blending in each other! Look at all the hype and promises that are made by Bhartiya Janta Party over Ayodhya temple. They are addressing whole community of religion and denying all the ground observations of communalism in India.

He thinks that doing something like that is showing pity to religious groups! Ridiculous.

Sudhir is a master of the art of misleading people. His speaking and the way of addressing is so sharp that it hits the sentiments of people who are watching him. Students are never taught how to segregate misleading and fake news in schools and the youth of our country are not encouraged to think and segregate what is right or wrong. Instead, people of our country are mislead and told to declare the people who make art, who criticise, who ask questions—anti-nationalist ,anti-hindu and what not.

Sudhir said that he found the incident very puzzling and stunning while communal riots are happening and lots of non-democratic policies are being made now and then. He thought that Munawar Faruqui’s coverage was more important than all.
